About
Cetta Pilati is a Melbourne-based sculptor working with marble and steel, uniting these materials through traditional, labour-intensive processes. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from RMIT University (1992). Drawing on the Roman mosaic method alongside contemporary metalwork, her practice is grounded in hand craftsmanship, material integrity and a deep respect for enduring techniques.
Her sculptural works explore the dialogue between permanence and precision, celebrating the human hand and the discipline of slow making. Through the considered use of stone and metal, Cetta creates artworks that are both timeless and contemporary, designed to endure physically and conceptually within private, public and architectural settings.
Alongside her studio practice, Cetta has spent over three years as Gallery Manager at Quadrant Gallery Hawthorn, where she has worked closely with artists, collectors and the wider community. This role has deepened her understanding of curatorial practice, collector relationships and the meaningful ways art can transform spaces and lives. Her experience within the gallery context informs her own practice, ensuring each commissioned work is thoughtfully conceived, sensitively placed and aligned with the aspirations of both collector and artist.
Cetta produces bespoke, one-off artworks for private collectors, public commissions and architectural environments. Collaborating closely with clients, she develops works that respond to scale, site and intention – ranging from large-scale sculptural statements to intimate interior pieces. Each artwork is created with meticulous attention to detail, material longevity and technique.
Her Melbourne-based studio supports the creation of exhibition and commissioned works and functions as a centre for specialist marble mosaic practice. Cetta is committed to elevating spaces and enriching lives – fostering lasting connections between artists, collectors and community.
