About
Cetta Pilati is a Melbourne-based artist working with marble and metal, bringing these materials together through traditional, hands-on processes. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture at RMIT University in 1992. Her practice draws on the ancient Roman mosaic method alongside contemporary metalwork, grounded in artistry, patience and a deep respect for enduring techniques.
Her sculptural works explore the balance between strength and precision. Through meticulously hand-cut tesserae and considered metal forms, she celebrates the discipline of slow making and the expressive power of the human hand. The resulting works feel both timeless and contemporary, designed to inhabit private, public and architectural spaces.
Alongside her studio practice, Cetta has a strong interest in creating opportunities for artists and communities to connect, share ideas and engage with creativity. In 2022, she initiated the feel good ART PRIZE, a national small-scale art prize created to celebrate the small things in life that can create uplifting change, encourage a sense of connection through art.
Cetta creates bespoke, one-off artworks for private collectors, public commissions and architectural environments. She collaborates closely with clients to develop works that respond thoughtfully to scale, site and intention – from large sculptural statements to intimate interior pieces. Each artwork is created with meticulous attention to detail, durability and technique.
Working from her Alphington studio, Cetta produces exhibition and commissioned works while supporting the continued practice of traditional marble mosaic. She is committed to creating meaningful artworks that enrich spaces and foster lasting connections between artist, collector and community.
